You may be wondering what Coaching is for or who may use a Coach. Well wonder no more! On this page you will find answers to the most common questions in regards to Life and Couples Coaching.

What exactly is a life coach?

A Life Coach helps you improve the overall quality of your life. I use science-based tools and exercises to help you discover your unique skills and strengths, then create an Action Plan to move you towards your dreams and goals. Please take some time to read the FAQs below to widen your understanding of my work as a Life and Couples Coach.

Is Life Coaching Right For Me?

Will Life Coaching Improve My Life?

People seek a Life Coach for a variety of reasons but the underlying theme is they feel stuck and are seeking help to move forward.

Our natural tendency as human beings is to evolve, progress, and move towards the things in life that make us better.

Life Coaching is a process of getting unstuck and realizing your goals and dreams. It is the perfect partner and platform for personal growth and development which when applied correctly, and with the help of a good Life Coach, will absolutely bring about lasting change and improvement in your life.

How Are The Coaching Sessions Conducted?

All of my coaching packages and courses are conducted online/telephone. As long as you have an internet connection and access to a telephone, we can work together!

There is merit in having weekly sessions online, the most obvious being that you get my undivided professional attention all from the comfort and convenience of your own home. What is also true is study after study shows that online coaching is more effective than meeting face-to-face. This seems to be supported by my own personal experience of using this method of coaching which allows greater focus and eliminates the distraction of visual stimuli. Clients seem to respond better in the safe and familiar environment of their home. You’re focused on the agenda and outcomes of the session rather than on the coach.

And forgive me for stating the obvious but with telephone coaching, you can kiss goodbye to long commutes, annoying traffic jams, and parking hassles. What's Involved In the Coaching Sessions?

Before we even get started on our weekly sessions together, I’ll take you through an initial Intake Session. My goal is to gain an understanding of your needs, your unique way of working, and your learning style.

We’ll establish your coaching goals and/or issues you want to resolve. I’ll share information about what coaching is, the role of the coach and client, and what you can expect from our time together. I’ll also cover the full area of administration.

Establishing a workable coach-client relationship is fundamental at the beginning stage because it tends to be a fairly good predictor of how successful the coaching program will be.

I use various self-assessment tools and exercises that help identify your strong areas for leveraging and your weak areas that may need some work. This crucial information forms the basis of new learning, self-awareness, and goal setting.

Sessions run for 60 minutes, once a week generally pre-scheduled at the same time on the same day. So for example, Tuesday, July 18 at 5.30 pm (CST) will be your time slot for each session going forward.

There is a minimum commitment of 90-days for most of my coaching packages but I get more into the weeds of that during your Free 30-minute, one-on-one, ‘Life Strategy’ Session.

All times are in CST since I mostly live in Chicago, USA.

Is Coaching Similar to Therapy?

No, coaching is not therapy. Coaching is forward-moving and future-focused, unlike therapy which involves the extensive examination of your past to understand how you got here in the first place.

Although the story of your life is interesting to me, I am much more focused on your life today particularly as it relates to goal-setting, outcome creation, and change management.

While therapy and coaching both are very valuable in moving you past roadblocks in life, their approaches differ in many ways.

Coaching is largely about discovery and self-awareness that seeks to optimize your resilience, develop internal resources, and maximize your full potential. By focusing on the three pillars of attitude, skills, and choices, it meets you where you are today and utilizes your individual strengths and capabilities to propel you to where you would much rather be in the future.

Finally, and foremost, coaches DO NOT diagnose or treat any psychiatric disorders.

Is Life Coaching for Couples or Singles?

Whether it relates to work, relationships, your physical or mental well-being, transitioning to a new situation, decision-making, personal development, or getting out of your comfort zone, coaching is the process that helps you reach your destination.

A Couples Coach works with couples who are struggling in their relationship and need help to get back on track. I use science-based tools and exercises to help deepen your connection to build a loving and meaningful life together. Is Couples Coaching Right For Me?

Will Couples Coaching Help My Marriage?

All couples want to be known and understood in their relationship. They want to feel connected and safe and share their lives together in a meaningful way. Sometimes trust has been broken or the spark has faded and the rigamortis of routine has set in.

If this sounds familiar, I want to assure you, Couples Coaching can help. As part of my couples program, I use research-based tools and techniques to help you rekindle love and appreciation of one another as well as deepen your sexual and emotional connection.

It is important to understand however, that coaching isn’t going to solve everything. It will give you padding and some skills and tools to more easily and quickly take care of issues that come up in your relationship.
